Dodge Challenger Picture Gallery
The Dodge Challenger was introduced in 1970 at the tail end of the muscle car craze. A sister to the Plymouth Barracuda, the Challenger was slightly bigger and a bit more upscale. Performance engines included the 275 horsepower 340, the 290 horsepower 383, the 335 hp 440, the 375 hp 440 six-pack, and the mighty 425 hp 426 Hemi. The Challenger T/A (Trans Am) was available only for 1970, and sported a 340 cid engine with three two-barrel carbs (340 Six Pack, rated at 290 hp), and a bold graphics package. 1974 was the last year for the original Challenger, but an all new version will be produced for 2008. New SRT-8 Challengers will come equipped with the 6.1 Liter Hemi rated at 425 hp.
