Chevrolet El Camino Picture Gallery

The El Camino first appeared in 1959 but lasted only until 1960. It was later re-introduced in 1964 based on the Chevelle platform. In 1965 a 350 horsepower 327 was available, and in 1966 the 396 big block rated at 325 to 375 hp was an option. The El Camino was redesigned for 1968, and the SS 396 model debuted. For 1969, the 396 engine actually displaced 402 cubic inches, though they were still marketed and badged as 396's.

For 1970, the SS 454 El Camino could be ordered with the LS5 engine rated at 360 horsepower, or the LS6 engine which produced 450 hp and 500 lbs-ft of torque. The El Camino was redesigned for 1973 to 1977, and again for 1978 to 1987 when production ceased.
