Chevrolet Nova Picture Gallery
Introduced in 1962, the Chevy II was Chevrolet's conventional entry into the compact car market. The Chevy II Nova SS debuted in 1963 with a six-cylinder engine. In 1964, a 195 horsepower 283 V8 was first offered, and in 1965, a 300 horsepower 327 was available.
The Nova was redesigned for 66-67 and a 350 hp 327 was optional. Redesigned again for 1968, the SS package now included a 350 with 295 horsepower, heavy duty suspension, and front disk brakes. Chevy's big block 396 was available with either 350 or 375 hp. 1970 was the last year for the SS 396. 1976 was the final year for the SS Nova.
